[Story] The girl wore red, Ch 2

Saphran arched her toes towards the fire, basking in its warmth. It had taken most of the day to get rid of the chill that had seemed to permeate her entire body. She had arrived late last night into the goblin city of Everlook, just as the guards were closing the city gates. They had let her in without hinderance, not even asking what her business in the town was to be. That would never have happened in an Alliance town. Saphran guessed that the guards weren't actually that interested in interrogating a small, miserable looking gnome at that time of night. She had simply asked where a good tavern could be found, to which they replied "The Dogs Bollix, just down at the end of that street there", pointing to their left. "Good, strong liquor too, if you're of the mind"

The rest of her journey into Everlook had been uneventful. The only problems had been camping at the end of each day. Typically it had taken a good couple of hours each night to fashion a cave in the snow so that she would be shielded from the elements and have only one direction from which any unwanted attention could approach her. One of the largest pitfalls in travelling alone was that there was no one to keep watch during the night. Needless to say, Saphran was glad to be Everlook finally. Nursing the tankard she held in her hand, she surveyed the people in the large common room, trying to judge if anyone looked like they were here for the explicit purpose of meeting someone. Not having any luck, Saphran drained the rest of her tankard and motioned to the serving wench for another.

Saphran was well on her way to a happy drunk, having struck up a conversation with one of the other patrons also toasting themselves by the fire. As she was laughing at her companions latest wild story, Saphran noticed more than a few people in the tavern look towards the two Night Elven females who had just entered the tavern, one of which who had whispered to the other in what had seemed an overly conspirational manner. Saphran continued laughing at her drinking partners story, but resolved to keep an eye on the two suspicious looking elves.
